Dundas Square continues to be a focal point inToronto for about last 10 years. Soon after long discussion, a proposal has been submitted to the City of Toronto to build a new 39-storey condo tower in the area. On March 10th, 2011 ‘HNR Properties’ submitted a development application to the city of Toronto to re-build 19 and 21 Dundas Square. At the moment it's “The HNR Tower,” a 21-storey commercial and office building built in 1930. 19 Dundas Square is the address of The Hermant Building, a 9 storey commercial building. The new project proposes a 39-storey condo tower with 254 suits. Commercial space would occupy floors 1-16. As per the current plan 258 Victoria (a heritage building) and its next door building at 252 Victoria will be demolished. The Hermant Building and ‘HNR Tower’ would be integrated into the design. Diamond + Schmitt Architects, Page + Steele and ERA Architects have all been involved to consult with “HNR Properties” on the proposal.
